Getting Started

• New pen or refill? Scribble briefly to activate the ink flow.

• White ink delay: The white gel ink takes a few seconds to appear on fabric—this is normal.

• Use within 4 months: For best results, use your pen within four months of opening. The heat-sensitive gel ink may begin to dry out after that period.

Storage Tips

• Always replace the cap securely after use.

• Store the pen tip-down to keep the ink flowing smoothly.

• Avoid leaving the pen uncapped—this ink is more delicate than standard writing pens.

Fabric Testing & Caution

• Always test on fabric scraps of each fabric you’ll be using in your project before marking your project. Some fabrics may show ghost marks after ironing.

The Invisible Zipper Foot is very different from a standard zipper foot. It has 2 grooves at the bottom of the foot which hold the zipper coils in place while you stitch. This creates even stitches that are very close to the zipper coil resulting in a flat finish with invisible fastening.

The invisible zipper foot makes the process of sewing an invisible zipper MUCH easier and faster. It’s even easier to insert an invisible zipper than setting in a regular zipper!

The MadamSew Ultimate Needle Threader helps you with inserting and threading a sewing machine needle.

Just place the thread from right to left through the slit in the threader (1) , slide the threader down the needle (2) until the pin pushes the thread through the needle eye (3). Gently pull the thread away from the needle (4). The hook on the threader can then be used to pull the thread completely through (5).

USE THE PEN WITHIN 5 MONTHS!

Your pen performs spectacularly for at least FIVE months, then the special gel ink may start to dry out.

We suggest that you always put the cap firmly back on if you are not using the pen. Unlike other pens, such as writing pens, you can’t leave this special pen sitting around uncapped. It is also helpful to store the pen pointed end down.

Order refills only when you run out, so you always have an ultra-fresh fabric marking pen!! :-)

Important:

• Always test these pens on scraps of ALL fabrics you will be using in your quilt as ghost marks can appear on some fabrics after ironing.

Making binding for quilts is surprisingly easy with this tool. The cutting width of your strips depends on how wide your finished binding will be. If you want your finished binding to be 1 inch, the XL bias tape maker is perfect for you. You will need to cut 3 ½ - 4 inch strips to start with. It just takes a minute to install a replacement blade on the handle of your Bird Nest Toolkit's knife. The blades are super sharp so be extra careful when you handle the blades. 

• To remove the old blade, carefully lift the bottom of the blade until it unlocks from the handle. With one hand you lift the bottom, with the other you pull the blade away from the handle. Slide the blade off the handle, moving it away from the handle.

• To install a new blade, put the handle through the opening of the blade. Align the blade into the groove of the handle and check that the diagonal lines (on the handle) are parallel with the blade. Gently slide the blade toward the handle until it locks in place.
