Madam Sew’s Top Ten Blog Posts From 2023
At Madam Sew we love writing and sharing information about sewing and quilting. In 2023, we published one new blog post every week on our sewing and quilting blog. These ten blog posts were the ones that you, our readers, liked best. These ten got the most views and reads.
If I look at that list I see that you are looking for quilting inspiration, for tutorials about little sewing and quilting projects, and to learn techniques and how to repair things.
Maybe you forgot about these projects or you missed some. In this blog you can click through to all 10 blogs and start sewing or quilting right away!
Please let me know what you would like to see on this blog in 2024 and we’ll try to make it happen! Just send me an email an@madamsew.com. And if you are interested in blogging for us about quilting, we are always on the lookout for fresh and interesting articles, just pop me a little email and I will send you all the details!
Four Sewing Projects
These are the project tutorials that our customers liked best. They are all free projects and perfectly doable for a confident beginner. Most can be made with little fabric scraps as well.
1. Learn how to make quilted laptop bag with a zipper and a long shoulder strap to carry your laptop around safely, in style.
2. The hooded towel poncho can be made out of two old beach towels. You can wear it on the beach after surfing or swimming. All pattern pieces are straight so very easy to draw and easily adapted to different sizes.
3. Make bowl cozies to hold hot or very cold bowls comfortably. There is no pattern to download. The Madam Sew tutorial explains clearly how to draw the fabric shapes. These can be whipped up very quickly.
4. Make the fleece reversible head band out of your softest fabrics and keep your ears warm on chilly winter days. There is a free downloadable pattern included with this tutorial.
If you make these four projects you can go to the beach on a winter's day, take a dip in the freezing water, put on your hooded towel afterwards , bring your laptop to get some work done, drink some hot soup in a bowl and not burn your fingers, while keeping your ears warm wearing a fleece headband 😀😀😀
Three Blog Posts with Quilting Inspiration
Quilters like the 13 lay-outs with triangles for quilt blocks that our quilt blogger Cara laid out for you. It is amazing how many different blocks you can make with just two colors of half-square triangle pieces. Quilters were also very curious about whether it is better to wash your quilt fabrics before you start making your quilt or not? What are the pro’s and the cons? The debate is real. Cara also added photos to a quilt and made a beautiful remembrance quilt. The result was so lovely she shared it with us and explained how to print photos on fabrics..
Three Sewing Techniques
Repairing and fixing clothes is the first thing people think about when you say you can sew and apparently it is also something a lot of people are looking for online. Read about the best way to hem pants with your sewing machine or how to fix the tears and holes in side pockets of pants. And people still want to learn more about basting in sewing. What is it exactly, when do you use it and what are different ways to baste when sewing?
These were the ten most popular blog posts we added to the Madam Sew Sewing and Quilting Blog in 2023. Of course there are many more that might spark your interest and new ones are added every week.
Did you see that we added a “How to Start with Sewing” and “Beginning with Quilting” Series in November and December 2023? The quilt series is not finished yet, but I hope to convince some creative people to start with one of these beautiful hobbies with these step by step guides with a lot of links to other blogs we’ve written over the years.
I’m very excited for what is coming this year and I hope you will keep following along and keep on creating beautiful things!
Happy 2024!
