The Complete Block Cutting Kit
THE COMPLETE BLOCK CUTTING KIT
"This is exactly the set I wish I had when I started quilting. The long ruler for cutting strips and the square one for trimming blocks — they really do cover everything. And having them with a good rotary cutter means I never have to reach for anything else at the cutting table."
- Sandra R., Madam Sew Verified Customer
Two purpose-matched rulers: the 6×24 for strip cutting and the 12.5" square for block squaring — no tool overlap, every cutting job covered
Bold alignment lines at 6.5", 8.5", 9.5", and 10.5" build the ¼" seam allowance directly into the square ruler — accurate blocks without the maths
Anti-slip coating on both rulers and a symmetrical ergonomic rotary cutter — a complete, non-slip cutting setup for right and left-handed quilters
Cut Strips. Square Blocks. Every Quilt, From Start to Finish.

Premium Quality - 11k+ 5 stars review
Every quilt starts at the cutting table — and this bundle gives you the three tools that handle every task there. The Complete Block Cutting Kit pairs the 12.5" Square-Up Ruler and the 6" × 24" Non-Slip Quilting Ruler with the 45mm Rotary Cutter for a complete, purpose-matched set.
The 6" × 24" ruler is the quilter's go-to for cutting fabric strips and width-of-fabric cuts — long, straight, and accurate every time. Once blocks are pieced and pressed, the 12.5" square ruler squares them up to any popular finished block size with the ¼" seam allowance already built into every bold alignment line. The 45mm rotary cutter does the cutting for both — one efficient pass along either ruler, clean through single or multiple layers.
Three tools, two rulers, one cutter — a complete cutting station in a single purchase.
Why You'll Love It
- Two Rulers Built for Two Different Jobs — The 6" × 24" ruler cuts long fabric strips, WOF cuts, and binding; the 12.5" square ruler squares up finished blocks and half-square triangles. Together they cover every cutting task in a standard quilting workflow without overlap.
- The 12.5" Ruler Solves the Squaring Problem Once and For All — With bold lines at 6.5", 8.5", 9.5", and 10.5" (each incorporating ¼" seam allowance), this ruler eliminates the most common source of inaccurate blocks — uneven or incorrectly measured trimming — for every popular quilt block size up to 12".
- Non-Slip Coating on Both Rulers — Both the 12.5" square and the 6" × 24" ruler use an anti-slip coating that grips fabric enough to prevent drift during cutting, while still allowing easy repositioning. No more rulers creeping mid-cut.
- Read Every Marking on Every Fabric — Both rulers use the same transparent matte technology, making grid lines and numbers readable on light and dark fabrics. The 6" × 24" ruler reads all the way across 24 inches of fabric without squinting or re-positioning.
- One Cutter for Both Rulers — The 45mm rotary cutter works seamlessly alongside both rulers — long strips with the 6" × 24", precise block trimming with the 12.5" square. One hand motion, two tools, consistent results.
1. 12.5" Square-Up Quilting Ruler
- Size: 12.5" × 12.5" × ⅛"
- Material: Durable acrylic; anti-slip coating; transparent matte finish; laser-cut edge
- Markings: ⅛" measurement grid; bold alignment lines at 6.5", 8.5", 9.5", 10.5" (with ¼" seam allowance); bold 45° diagonal line for half-square triangles
- Use: Squaring up quilt blocks up to 12"; squaring up HSTs; measuring and marking
2. Non-Slip Quilting Ruler 6" × 24"
- Size: 6" × 24"
- Material: Durable acrylic plastic; smooth laser-cut edge; anti-slip coating; transparent matte technology
- Markings: ⅛", ¼", ½", and 1" grid lines; 30°, 45°, and 60° angle lines
- Use: Cutting fabric strips at any width; WOF (width of fabric) cuts with fabric folded in half; marking fabric; cutting binding; cutting long pieces for garments and home decor
- Note: The 6" width accommodates most standard cut widths; the 24" length allows WOF strips when fabric is folded in half
3. Rotary Cutter — 45mm
- Blade size: 45mm; SKS-7 tungsten steel blade; plastic loop handle with grip ridges
- Length: 7⅝ inches; symmetrical handle for right and left-handed use; sliding blade guard
- Use: Cutting strips with the 6×24; trimming blocks with the 12.5" square; binding cuts; multi-layer cutting
- Safety: Always engage blade guard when not in use; use only with a cutting mat
- Start with the 6" × 24" ruler to cut your fabric into strips and blocks. Fold your pre-washed, pressed fabric in half at the selvage. Lay flat on your cutting mat. Align the 6" × 24" ruler with the fabric fold using the grid lines. Use the rotary cutter to cut a clean, straight edge first — then cut your strips at the required width by repositioning the ruler.
- Cut WOF strips for blocks or binding. With your fabric folded in half, the 24" length of the ruler spans the full width of folded fabric. Position the ruler at your required strip width and cut in one smooth pass.
- Piece and press your blocks. After sewing the pieced blocks, press all seams flat — either open or to the dark side, per your preference. A well-pressed block is significantly easier to square up accurately.
- Square up finished blocks with the 12.5" ruler. Place the block on the cutting mat. Position the 12.5" ruler with the bold alignment line for your target size centred on the block — for example, the 6.5" line for a 6" finished block. The transparent matte surface lets you see seam lines and fabric through the ruler.
- Trim two adjacent sides. With the ruler correctly positioned, trim the first side with the rotary cutter in one clean pass, then rotate the ruler and trim the adjacent side. The blade guard should be re-engaged whenever you reposition.
- Rotate the block and trim the remaining two sides. Turn the block 180°, re-align the ruler to the same bold line, and trim. All four sides are now square to the same dimension with the ¼" seam allowance incorporated.
- For half-square triangles. Use the 45° diagonal line on the 12.5" ruler to align with the HST seam, then trim to the required unfinished size.
