The Pressing & Comfort Station

Your sewing table does a lot of work. This bundle makes sure it works quietly, stays stable, and presses beautifully. The Pressing & Comfort Station brings together four mats that transform your quilting setup from noisy and slippery to calm, steady, and professional.

You get both wool pressing mats — the standard 17" × 13.5" for blocks at the machine and the extra large 17" × 24" for longer hems and full quilt sections — plus the Muffling Mat to stop your machine from vibrating and walking across the table, and the Pedal Mat to keep your foot pedal exactly where your foot expects it.

It's the bundle that handles everything happening below the needle and beside the iron — so you can focus entirely on what's happening in between.

Why You'll Love This

• Two Pressing Surfaces, Every Project Size Covered — The standard 17" × 13.5" wool mat sits at your machine for quick seam pressing, while the extra large 17" × 24" mat handles long hems, jelly rolls, and full quilt sections. Both press from both sides at once with 100% New Zealand wool — no ironing board needed.
• Stop Your Machine from Walking Across the Table — The TPE rubber Muffling Mat goes under your sewing, embroidery, or serger machine and absorbs vibrations before they reach the table. Your machine stays put, the noise drops, and your work surface is protected from scratches.
• No More Chasing Your Foot Pedal — The Pedal Mat keeps your foot pedal right where you placed it, on nearly any floor surface. No more breaking your rhythm to look under the table and reposition it mid-seam.
• A Quieter, Calmer Sewing Space — Together, the two rubber mats reduce machine noise and movement dramatically, letting you sew at retreats, in shared spaces, or late in the evening without disturbing anyone — or losing focus yourself.
• Four Mats, One Complete Workspace Upgrade — This bundle addresses four of the most common sewing table frustrations — uneven pressing, machine creep, vibration noise, and a runaway pedal — with purpose-built solutions for each one.

1. Extra Large Wool Pressing Mat

• Material: 100% felted New Zealand wool
• Size: 17" × 24"
• Thickness: Approx. ½"
• Features: Naturally fire-resistant; presses both sides of fabric simultaneously for crisp, flat results; textured surface grips fabric to prevent stretching
• Use: Full quilt sections, jelly rolls, curtain and skirt hems, large panels, patchwork, appliqué, embroidery
• Includes: Reusable transparent vinyl storage pouch with snap closure
• Care: Blot stains with white vinegar solution (¼ cup vinegar + 2 cups lukewarm water); do not machine wash; natural wool may have slight odor when wet (normal)
• Note: Steam and moisture may seep through mat — protect wood or delicate surfaces underneath

2. Wool Pressing Mat

• Material: 100% felted New Zealand wool
• Size: 17" × 13.5"
• Thickness: Approx. ½"
• Features: Same pressing properties as the XL mat; compact size ideal for use right at the sewing machine; textured surface grips fabric
• Use: Quilt blocks, seams, hems, patchwork; perfect at-machine pressing surface for day-to-day quilting
• Includes: Reusable transparent vinyl storage pouch with snap closure
• Care: Same as XL mat above

3. Sewing Machine Muffling Mat

• Material: TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) rubber
• Size: 15" × 20"
• Thickness: 0.3" (8mm)
• Color: Teal/blue-green (Madam Sew branded)
• Surface: Logo side up; wavy/grooved side faces down to grip work surface
• Features: Absorbs machine vibrations; reduces noise and movement; protects work surface from scratches and scuffs; fits under most household sewing, embroidery, and serger machines
• Use: Place under machine on any work surface — table, desk, or countertop
• Note: Reduces vibration and movement significantly but does not eliminate all machine noise; for very heavy machines or extremely slippery surfaces, results may vary
• Care: Wash with soap and water; air or towel dry completely before use; do not leave in direct sunlight

4. Sewing Machine Pedal Mat

• Material: TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) rubber
• Size: 7" × 10"
• Thickness: 0.3" (8mm)
• Surface: Logo side up; wavy/grooved side faces down
• Features: Keeps foot pedal from sliding during use; protects flooring from scratches; lightweight and portable; repositionable with foot without crawling under table
• Compatible with: Most sewing machine, serger, and embroidery machine foot pedals on wood, parquet, laminate, vinyl, linoleum, stone, tile, and textile flooring
• Note: Mat is designed to allow slight repositioning with the foot — this is intentional. For very slippery flooring, Madam Sew Non-Slip Adhesive Rings can be added to the underside for extra grip
• Care: Wash with soap and water; air or towel dry completely; do not leave in direct sunlight

1. Set up the Muffling Mat first. Clean your table surface, then place the Muffling Mat logo side up, wavy side down, in the center of your work area. Center your sewing, embroidery, or serger machine on top. Your machine should now sit firmly without rocking or creeping — even at high speeds.
2. Place the Pedal Mat on the floor. Put the Pedal Mat logo side up, wavy side down, where your foot naturally rests when sewing. Place your foot pedal on top. You can nudge the mat into position with your foot at any time — no need to bend down or reattach anything.
3. Choose your pressing mat for the task. Use the standard 17" × 13.5" mat right at your sewing machine for pressing individual quilt blocks and seams as you work. Use the extra large 17" × 24" mat for longer projects — jelly roll strips, skirt hems, curtain panels, or full quilt sections.
4. Press seams and blocks on the wool mat. Place your block or fabric on the mat, wrong or right side up as needed. Press with your iron — the dense wool absorbs and radiates heat back through the fabric for flat, crisp seams in fewer passes. Protect wood or delicate surfaces from steam seeping through.
5. Store your mats properly. Roll or lay the wool pressing mats flat in their vinyl storage pouches when not in use. Store the rubber mats flat, away from direct sunlight to preserve the TPE material.
6. Clean as needed. Blot wool mats with a white vinegar solution for stains; do not machine wash. Wash rubber mats with soap and water; towel or air dry completely before using again.
