The Press & Perfect Kit
The Press & Perfect Kit
"I set this up on a little corner of my sewing table and I genuinely haven't needed my ironing board in weeks. The wool mat and mini iron together are extraordinary — my seams have never been this flat. And the hem ruler has completely changed how I do curtains and trousers. I just fold on the ruler, press, done. It's brilliant."

Mini iron + 9"×11" wool mat = a precision pressing station at your machine — dense wool radiates heat through both sides of fabric for crisp, flat seams with no trips to the ironing board
18" Hot Hem Ruler folds and presses hems from ⅛" to 18" in seconds — press directly on the heat-resistant ruler surface with steam or dry heat for perfectly even results
Rolling Seam Presser flattens seams between stitches without heat, then locks them crisp after pressing — keep sewing without interruption

Crisp seams and flat hems don't happen by accident — they happen when you have the right pressing tools working together at every stage of your project. The Press & Perfect Kit brings four purpose-matched tools into one complete pressing system.
The Mini Iron and Mini Wool Pressing Mat work as a pair: the compact iron sits right at your sewing machine and presses small seams, blocks, and hems with precision, while the 9"×11" wool mat provides the ideal pressing surface — absorbing and radiating heat from both sides for results you simply cannot get from a standard ironing board cover. The 18" Hot Hem Ruler lets you fold and press perfectly even hems from ⅛" to 18" without guesswork, pressing directly onto the heat-resistant ruler surface. And the Rolling Seam Presser means you never have to leave your sewing seat just to tack down a seam — one pass of the wooden roller keeps seams flat so you can keep piecing.
Four tools that take your pressing from adequate to professional.
Why You'll Love It
- A Complete Pressing System That Works at Your Machine — Instead of walking back and forth to an ironing board between every seam, this kit gives you everything you need to press seams, hem fabric, and set folds right where you're already sitting. One workspace. One focused setup.
- Wool Mat + Mini Iron = The Professional Press — The 100% felted New Zealand wool mat doesn't just protect your table — it actively improves your press. Dense wool absorbs heat from the iron and radiates it back through the fabric, setting seams crisper and flatter than a padded ironing board ever could. The mini iron's compact soleplate reaches tight spots and small blocks the way a full-size iron simply can't.
- Fold a Perfect Hem Once — Press It Right There — The 18" Hot Hem Ruler lets you fold any hem from ⅛" to 18" using the clear grid lines, then press directly onto the heat-resistant wool surface. No measuring tape. No pins. No second-guessing. Just a clean, consistent fold pressed in seconds.
- Press Seams Without Standing Up — The Rolling Seam Presser's wooden roller temporarily flattens seams with a few passes of pressure alone — no heat required. Use it between seams to keep your work flat and continue piecing, then use the iron for the final press. It also doubles as a mini tailor's clapper immediately after pressing to lock in crisp edges.
- Everything Compact, Everything Portable — The mini iron, the 9"×11" mat, the 18" ruler, and the rolling presser all fit together on a small section of your sewing table. The roller slips into any project bag; the wool mat tucks away flat. Perfect for the home sewing room, a retreat, or a class.

- Size: 9" × 11" (22.9 × 27.9 cm)
- Material: 100% felted New Zealand wool
- Thickness: Approx. ½"
- Features: Naturally fire-resistant; dense wool absorbs and radiates heat for crisp seams and flat hems on both sides of fabric; lightweight and portable; holds fabric in place during pressing; does not require a protective cover for standard iron temperatures
- Use: Compact pressing station at the sewing machine; pressing quilt blocks, small seams, hems, and piecing squares; embroidery; patchwork; appliqué
- Care: Air dry after use; do not wash in washing machine; protect wood surfaces as steam may seep through the mat
3. Hot Hem Ruler 18"
- Size: 18" long × 2.5" wide
- Material: Felted wool — heat-resistant, non-slip, will not warp or heat up under direct iron contact
- Markings: Clear grid lines from ⅛" to 18"; 45° angle guides for mitered corners; accommodates all common seam allowances
- Features: Press directly onto ruler with steam or dry iron at any temperature; stiff material holds fabric firmly in position while folding and pressing; lightweight
- Use: Hemming trousers, skirts, sleeves, curtains; pressing seam allowances; preparing binding; creating mitered corners; pressing pleats and folds
- Instructions: Full instructions printed on packaging; online manual and YouTube tutorial available at madamsew.com
4. Rolling Seam Presser
- Materials: Lightweight plastic handle with solid wood roller
- Features: Ergonomic grip; portable and lightweight — fits in any project bag; no heat required for temporary pressing
- Use: Roll wooden wheel over seam on a solid surface (cutting mat, table) with light pressure to temporarily flatten seams while quilting or sewing; use immediately after pressing with steam iron as a mini tailor's clapper to hold seam flat as it cools; paper piecing; scrapbooking; paper crafting
- Note: If adhesive (e.g. wallpaper paste) contacts the wooden roller it will compromise future use for sewing/crafting — avoid contact with adhesives
- Set up your mini pressing station. Place the Mini Wool Pressing Mat on your sewing table within arm's reach of your machine. Set the Mini Iron on its rest and allow it to heat to your chosen temperature setting. The mat's dense wool surface is ready to use at any time — no warm-up needed.
- Use the Rolling Seam Presser to keep working between seams. After sewing each seam, place the work piece on the mat or a flat surface and roll the wooden wheel firmly along the seam with a little pressure. This temporarily flattens the seam so you can chain-piece your next unit without stopping to iron each one.
- Press seams on the wool mat with the Mini Iron. When you're ready to press a batch of seams, place each piece on the wool mat. Press with the mini iron — with or without steam — for 3–5 seconds. The wool mat reflects heat from both sides of the fabric, setting seams flat and crisp with less effort than a standard ironing board.
- Immediately use the Rolling Seam Presser as a clapper. Right after pressing, place the wooden roller on the seam and hold firm for a few seconds. The wood absorbs heat and moisture from the seam, setting it sharp and flat as it cools.
- Use the Hot Hem Ruler for hems, folds, and pleats. Lay the 18" ruler along the fabric edge. Fold the fabric over the top of the ruler to the desired depth using the clear grid markings (e.g. fold to the ½" line for a ½" hem). Press directly onto the ruler surface with the mini iron — the heat-resistant wool holds steady. Remove the ruler to reveal a perfectly even, crisp fold. Repeat along the full length of the hem.
- Press mitered corners with the 45° guide. For binding corners or mitered hems, align the corner of the fabric to the 45° grid line on the ruler and press. The ruler holds the fold precisely in place during pressing for clean, professional-looking corners.
