Premium Quality - 11k+ 5 stars review
Every stitch tells a story — and this bundle gives you every tool to tell it cleanly. The Marking Master Kit brings together five of Madam Sew's best marking tools: two chalk markers (white and yellow) for temporary lines on any fabric, the heat erasable pen set for marks that vanish with iron heat, a Brick Red permanent ink pad, and the "Handmade By" fabric stamp to sign every finished piece as your own.
Whether you're marking quilting lines on dark fabric, tracing a hemline on jersey, or labelling a quilt you're gifting to a grandchild, this kit has you covered from first mark to final signature. No more reaching for the wrong marker, no more stubborn chalk lines that won't come off — just the right tool for the right fabric, every time.
Why You'll Love It
- Two Chalk Colours, Every Fabric Covered — White chalk shows crisply on dark and deeply coloured fabrics; yellow shows on medium tones. Both use the Dosing Wheel — a precision-engineered toothed metal wheel that distributes chalk in a fine, consistent line you can draw straight or freehand, without ever sharpening.
- Mark It, Sew It, Make It Disappear — The heat erasable pen set lets you mark seam lines, quilting designs, appliqué placements, and dart positions freely. When your project is done, one pass of a hot iron erases every trace — no washing needed, no ghost lines.
- Sign Every Quilt You Make — The "Handmade By" fabric stamp with Brick Red permanent ink creates a professional, wash-fast label with space for your name and date. Applied in seconds, it stays vibrant through years of washing — your signature on every heirloom.
- Three Marking Methods, One Complete System — Chalk is for temporary lines while sewing and quilting; heat erasable pens are for construction marks and design work; the stamp is for permanent identification. Together they cover every marking need from the first cut to the finished label.
- Built for Quilters and Garment Sewists Alike — Whether your next project is a cathedral windows quilt, a bias-cut skirt, or a hand-quilted gift, this kit has the right marker for every fabric type, every stage of the project, and every colour of cloth.
1. Chalk Marker — White
- Colour: White — high visibility on dark and deeply coloured fabrics
- Technology: Dosing Wheel — toothed metal wheel at tip distributes powdered chalk evenly as you roll along
- Lines: Very fine and precise; draws straight and curved lines; wheel moves in both directions
- Ergonomic design: Recessed tip; comfortable pen-shaped barrel; protective cap keeps wheel safe and chalk contained
- Suitable fabrics: Cotton, knit, jersey, synthetic fibres, suede, leather; do NOT use on silk or nylon
- Removal: Rub with hands, soft brush, or damp cloth; wash with plain water. Note: Chalk lines may fade while sewing — avoid moving the project excessively between marking and sewing
- Refillable: Yes — chalk refills available separately on madamsew.com
2. Chalk Marker — Yellow
- Colour: Yellow — visible on medium and light-coloured fabrics; provides contrast on fabrics where white doesn't show as clearly
- Technology: Same Dosing Wheel technology as white version — identical form factor and mechanics
- All other specs identical to White Chalk Marker above
- Refillable: Yes — chalk refills available separately
3. Heat Erasable Fabric Marking Pens + Refills
- Quantity: 4 pens (white, black, red, blue) + 4 free refills (1 per colour); comes in carrying pouch with pocket-clip caps
- Tip: 0.7mm fine point; 0.35mm line width
- Ink: Heat-erasable gel; erases with iron at minimum 180°F/80°C, hairdryer, or tumble dryer on high
- Use on nearly all fabrics; test on scrap first; extra care with silk
- Store tip-down, tightly capped; use within 5 months of purchase
4. Permanent Fabric Ink Pad — Brick Red
- Colour: Brick Red — rich, warm tone for labelling and personalising
- Dimensions: 4.75" × 3"
- Ink type: Permanent fabric ink — heat-settable; wash-fast once heat-set with iron
- Compatible with: All rubber stamps; especially paired with the Madam Sew "Handmade By" Fabric Stamp
- Best for: Natural fabrics — cotton and linen; test on synthetic fabrics before use
- Features: Non-smearing, non-bleeding formula; quick-drying; crisp impression
- Setting method: After stamping and allowing to dry completely, iron on low heat to set permanently
- Note: Always test on scrap fabric before stamping final project
5. "Handmade By" Fabric Stamp
- Dimensions: 3" × 4" (7.6cm × 10.2cm)
- Construction: Durable wood block with rubber stamp face
- Design: "Handmade By" text with a blank space to write in name and date
- Use: Personalise quilts, garments, accessories, tote bags, and any handmade textile project with a permanent, wash-fast label
- Ink compatibility: Use with the Madam Sew Permanent Fabric Ink Pad (included in this bundle); works with any rubber-stamp-compatible permanent fabric ink
- Care: Always test on scrap fabric before stamping the final piece; apply even pressure across the full stamp face; lift stamp slowly to avoid smearing
- Note: The stamp face is sized to work perfectly with the 4.75" × 3" ink pad included in this bundle
- Choose your chalk marker for the fabric you're working on. Use white for dark fabrics (navy, black, deep red, charcoal), and yellow for medium tones (natural muslin, grey, light denim). Roll the dosing wheel smoothly and firmly along the fabric surface — with or without a ruler. The line appears immediately and stays crisp while you sew.
- Remove chalk marks when done. Rub gently with your fingertip, a soft brush, or a damp cloth. For complete removal, rinse with plain water. Note: chalk lines may fade gradually with handling — mark and sew without too much repositioning between steps. Always test on a scrap piece first.
- Use the heat erasable pens for finer marking work. Choose your colour (white for dark fabrics; red, blue, or black for lighter ones). Mark seam lines, quilting designs, dart positions, or appliqué placement directly on the fabric. Marks stay visible until you need them gone, then disappear with a hot iron at 180°F/80°C minimum.
- Refill chalk markers and pen cartridges as needed. For chalk markers: unscrew the tip to open the chalk compartment and refill with powdered chalk. For heat erasable pens: unscrew the front tip, remove the spent cartridge, insert a fresh refill, and replace the tip. Store both types tightly capped, pens tip-down.
- Stamp your finished project. Wash and iron the fabric area you want to stamp on a hard surface. Press the stamp lightly onto the Brick Red ink pad to evenly coat the stamp face. Position on your fabric, press firmly and evenly across the full stamp surface — do not rock or slide it. Lift the stamp slowly and allow the ink to dry completely.
- Heat-set the stamp for permanence. Once dry, iron over the stamped area on low heat to set the ink permanently. After heat-setting, the label will withstand regular washing without fading. Write your name and date in the blank space with a fine permanent marker or a gel pen once set.
- Always test first. Every tool in this kit performs differently on different fabrics. Before marking, stamping, or heat-erasing on your finished project, always run a test on a scrap of the same fabric. This is the single most important step for confident, clean results.
