All 44 are 8-inch closed-end zippers, in 22 colours with two of each. That length suits cushion covers, zip pouches, tote and bag pockets, and small garment openings.

Closed-end means the two halves stay joined at the bottom, so they're right for anything that opens partway and wrong for a jacket front, which needs a separating zip. If you need longer, the same set comes in an 18-inch version sold separately.

No — this is a 5-pack of spare 45mm blades for the cutter you already own. They're SKS-7 tungsten steel and fit Madam Sew, Fiskars, Olfa, Clover, and most standard 45mm rotary cutters.

Check the size stamped on your current blade before ordering. If yours is a 28mm or 60mm cutter these won't fit it, and you'd want the matching size sold separately. If you don't own a rotary cutter yet, ours is on its own product page.

The ten pieces follow the arc of an actual project. You set your seam allowance once with the seam guide ruler and lock the magnetic guide so every seam matches. You cut on the 12″ rotating mat, spinning it to square each side instead of walking round the table, and swap in a fresh 45mm blade the moment cutting drags.

You mark with four erasable pens — white for darks, blue, red and black for lights — hold the layers with six jumbo clamps, and press on New Zealand wool, which erases your pen marks with the same heat. Add a zipper from the 44-piece set when the project calls for one, then put it all away in the purple binder bag, the roll-up accessories bag, and the navy project bag.

Yes, with heat rather than washing. Press at 180°F / 80°C or above and the marks vanish. As always, test on a scrap of your fabric first.

Two things worth knowing: store the pens tip-down and tightly capped and use them within about five months, and marks can reappear if a finished piece is stored below 32°F / 0°C — an unheated garage or a winter car boot, for instance. Another quick press removes them again.

It needs a metal needle plate with about 1.5 inches of flat metal surface for the magnet to grip. Most domestic machines have this. It's safe to use on computerized machines — the magnet is small and sits on the plate, not near the electronics.

If your machine has a plastic needle plate area, the ruler still works perfectly for setting and measuring your allowance; you'd just guide the fabric by the markings rather than against the magnetic stop.
