1. Assemble the bamboo stand and position it on your sewing table. Place the gold shears in the back slot (tallest pair, back position), and the stork scissors in a front slot (shortest pair, close to the machine).
2. Use the 9.5" gold shears for all main fabric cutting tasks. Cut pattern pieces, long fabric strips, and multi-layer cuts. Hold the fabric flat on the table and guide the shears in smooth, long strokes. These are right-handed scissors — ensure the blade orientation is correct before cutting. Wipe the blades clean after each use and keep for fabric only.
3. Use the stork scissors at the machine for thread trimming and fine work. After sewing each seam, reach for the stork scissors to trim threads close to the surface. For embroidery or needlework, use the pointed tip to work into the hoop and snip floss ends precisely. The gold-plated tip allows for extremely close cuts without risk of cutting the fabric.
4. Maintain the gold shears. Wipe the blades after each use to remove lint and fabric residue. Apply a tiny drop of sewing machine oil to the pivot screw periodically for smooth action. When the edge dulls over time, use a sharpening stone along the blade angle to restore the edge — always from the same side as the original bevel.
5. Return both pairs to the stand after every session. Blades down, handles up — edges protected, gold handles displayed.
