Everything you need to know about Madam Sew's Birds Nest Tool Kit
When thread becomes tangled under your sewing machine, under or on top of your fabric, this can lead to what is called a bird nest. Bird nests are often hard to remove, especially when they are situated underneath the fabric and sucked partially into the needle plate.
This toolkit is made to help you free your project.
This set contains:
• a thread hook (8 ½ inch)
• a thread knife (9 ½ inch) with protective cap + a spare blade
• a handy and safe storage box
WARNING: The knife is extremely sharp. Keep out of reach of children.

USER INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1 :
With the thread hook, you can reach above or below your fabric or your embroidery hoop, pull the threads, and create a bit of space between the needle plate and your fabric.
STEP 2 :
With the thread knife, you can then safely cut the tangled threads and free the project from your machine without damaging your project.
STEP 3:
Remove all the little thread ends and use the checklist on the back to check what may have caused the thread nesting to happen before you continue sewing.
HOW TO CHANGE THE BLADE
To change the blade of the thread knife that comes with the bird nest toolkit, you have to be extra careful as the blades are surgically sharp.
You can replace a blade with your hands as shown on the instructions that come with the Bird Nest Toolkit as long as you avoid contact with the cutting edge of the blade. In this manual, I’m showing you a safer option using pliers. You can also use forceps or medical needle holders to do this.
The blade is held at the head of the handle of the knife. Every blade has a hole that fits over the head of the handle. The head of the handle has a little groove and a slight lug that holds the blade in place.
To remove the old blade, grab the tail of the blade, lift it a bit to bend it over the lug and push it out, away from the handle. You don’t need to use too much force to remove it, if you do, you are not doing it the right way. Make sure you don’t bend the blade so much that it snaps. Just a small amount to lift it over the lug. Before removing the blade, check your surroundings. Be sure that the blade will not accidentally harm someone if it gets away from you during this process.. To remove the blade in a more controlled manner, you can slide the blade off by pushing your thumb against the forceps or pliers.
Keep the old blade in a safe container when you throw it away.
To add the new blade to the handle, align the blade with the handle of your knife. The incline of the blade’s tail has to be aligned with the incline on the handle. Grab the blade by the tip. Now approach the blade with the handle from underneath, so you can slide the blade into the groove from underneath. Slide it forward until it clicks over the lug.
