How to Use the Rolled Hem and the Flat Hem
These feet both create a similar delicate hem, perfect for sleeves or circle skirts. The difference between these feet is the final hem produced by #30 is slightly rounder, as it escapes the back of the foot through a curved groove. #31 created a flattened hem through a suared off channel at the base of the foot.
Both are attached by a simple clip on bar.
Feed the fabric into the feet with the right side down and a fold of fabric to the right edge. This fold will be fed into the scroll which will continue the curl into the needle bay.
The needle will secure the roll of fabric and it is then passed on through the foot.
As you can see the resulting hems are delicate and even.
Top Tip: Practice before you begin working on your main project as it can be tricky to feed the fabric the first few times. Once you have mastered the scroll feed the hems will form as if by magic.
